The LeDrew Family of St. John’s, NL has to be one of the oldest “moving names” in the country. According to Bob LeDrew Sr., his great grandfather was a “master carter” plying his trade in that bustling port city more than a century ago.

In those days, the main mode of transport was by sea vessel but once the cargo was offloaded, it had to be moved to its final destination by horse and cart. Bob’s grandfather expanded the business with the use of what was known as an “express wagon”, thus creating LeDrew’s Express.

This company was run as an Allied agent until the company name was sold in 1989. Bob Sr. moved on to manage this branch. When Bob’s sons, Bob Jr. and Lorne finished school, they joined their father in the moving business, re-launching the family-owned moving company in 1998 as Bob LeDrew & Sons Inc.

Today, Bob Jr. and Lorne own and operate the business from Mount Pearl, NL. Owning a fleet of moving trucks, in addition to a 10,000 square foot warehouse, the sons continue to keep the family “moving torch” burning brighter than ever, keeping true to their roots as a family-run, small business.
